02.Why Designers Use Lorem Ipsum
Lorem ipsum is scrambled Latin adapted from Cicero’s De finibus bonorum et malorum, written in 45 BC. Its mix of short and medium-length words looks enough like English and other Western European languages to fill a layout convincingly, but because nobody reads it, reviewers look at hierarchy, spacing, and line length (45–75 characters is the usual target) instead of the words.
<!-- Two paragraphs with "Wrap with HTML Tags" enabled -->

Nowhere. This tool runs entirely in your browser: what you paste or generate is processed in this tab and is never uploaded or stored. The page is also served with a Content Security Policy that limits which servers it can contact.See how to check this yourself →
04.Frequently Asked Questions
Why is lorem ipsum still the default placeholder text?
It has roughly the letter and word-length mix of English and Romance languages without being readable, so design reviews stay focused on typography, hierarchy, and spacing instead of proofreading copy.
What does the Legal Latin option add?
It mixes in Latin phrases used in English-speaking law, such as habeas corpus, prima facie, ex post facto, and caveat emptor. Use it when mocking up legal tech products, terms pages, or compliance dashboards, where real copy is full of phrases like these.
Why test with diacritics and ligatures enabled?
Accented letters and ligatures such as é, æ, and œ check whether your web font includes those glyphs. If it doesn’t, the browser draws them with a fallback font, which can look out of place and nudge the line height.
Can I generate HTML-ready placeholder text?
Yes. Enable "Wrap with HTML Tags" to wrap each paragraph in <p> tags, or leave it off for plain text separated by blank lines. Either format can be pasted directly into templates, CMS editors, or design tools.
